Shabir’s Local Knowledge wins the UAE Golf Online Sateeday Stableford at Jumeirah Golf Estates
UAE Golf Online started their race with a season starting Golf event at Jumeirah Golf Estates on the DP World Tour Championship venue, the Earth Course.
The day attracted another crowd of dedicated Golfers from several of the Emirates in the UAE and also a few players from Oman and the UK who were visiting.
With the summer heat still firmly here an early morning tee off was put in place, but with the addition of the Race to Dubai ending Course, the day was always going to be a test for the players.
This showed in some of the scores and the conditions took their toll on a few of the guys and refreshments and ice polls were being taken regularly.
There was 3 clear winners taking the top three places, coming in 3rd place was Barnaby Crompton with a creditable 34 pts, Mark Robinson had a really good round scoring 36 pts, there were whisperings that his painting knowledge of the Earth Course had helped him but he quickly put them to bed.
Finally, taking the crystal trophy, Nivea Men gift pack and the Golf House MD Norman Drew Wedge was JGE Member Shabir Yakub with a solid 37 pts. Home advantage maybe just helped him on the day to pip Mark to the top spot, but well done to him and a great effort by all the players.

Dipesh Makwana won the nearest to the pin in two but it was the traveling Oman army who cleaned up the final pair of the remaining special prizes on the day. Steve Grey taking the straight longest drive and Pete Shilling was at the back of the pack collecting a voucher for a Golf lesson at the new Jumeirah Golf Estates academy that is opening very soon, courtesy of Wayne Johnson and his team.
