Sfeila wins BMW Rivoli December medal at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club

The BMW-Rivoli December Medal was played today at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. Once again the monthly competition was very well supported by the members with over 80 players taking part.  With the heavy rain the previous day it had looked like the medal would not go ahead but luckily the course drained extremely well and there was no overnight rain.

It was Rabih Sfeila who continued his excellent run of form and secured his second victory within just three days with a superb net 69.  Sfeila finished strongly and so managed to beat Mark Irwin on a count-back over the last 6 holes and Mansour Khodjasteh over the back nine.  After being presented his prize Sfeila commented; “I am very happy to pick up the second victory of the week and I hope that this run of form will last for a while longer.  The weather and the course were perfect today and it was very enjoyable to play.  I would like to thank my playing partners for today’s game and also a very big thank you to the staff at the Creek and the sponsors for their continued hard work with these events”.

Mark Irwin took top spoils in Men’s Division A with his 2-under par net 69 whilst Dave Gowans had a solid inward half to take the runner-up spot with a 1-under par net 70.  Although a disastrous triple bogey seven on the testing finishing hole did cost Gowans the overall title.  The Men’s Division B was a close battle with just one shot between the top two players.   It was Mansour Khodjasteh who picked up his 2nd win of the season with a fantastic net 69 just one better than Praveen Kalia who finished runner-up with a net 70.

Ladies Captain Mego Han was back to winning ways in the Ladies Division as she finished with a net 70 beating Vanessa North on a better inward half.   Hrithik Khurana put in a superb performance to win the Junior Division with his 6-under par net 65.  Paul King, a consistent performer took the overall gross prize with a 74 and a better inward half over Jay Varkey and Miki Mirza.

Head Golf Professional at the Dubai Creek, Stephen Hubner commented; “I was very happy that we managed to get today’s event played after having several delays yesterday due to the storms.  The course has held up magnificently and our thanks go to course superintendant Matt Perry and his team for all their hard work.  I would also like to thanks BMW and Rivloi for their continued support and congratulate Rabih Sfeila on his wonderful week!”
