Serifa De Souza Lands Emirates Ladies Amateur Open

Serifa De Souza carded a gross 77 to land the Ladies Emirates Amateur Open Championship over the Majlis course.

The Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club youngster had a shaky start dropping strokes on the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th holes.

However she rallied fantastically well with back to back birdies on the tricky 7th and 8th holes. An up and down inward nine included two further birdies on the short 11th and 16th but she did give strokes back to the course on the 13th, 14th and 15th holes. Her 5-over par tally gave her a one stroke victory over her closest challenger Julia Alhemoud who settled for runners-up place. Kavita Sehmi carded an 82 to clinch third.

The net category was eagerly contested by the 59-strong field with Aashaka Desai taking top spot with a 69. H H Choi took second in the net category with Josie Tracey in third, all prize winners were rewarded by event sponsors Titleist.
