Second Members Challenge of the season at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club
The Member’s Challenge sponsored by RUS Aviation and Rossiyanka, Community for Russian Women was played today at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. 100 members and guests came along to the club and enjoyed the Pairs Better Ball Stableford competition.
The Member’s Challenge was the second event in a series driven by club captain Mr Joseph Andrade with the goal of encouraging more social interaction between members of the club. Mr Andrade commented, “Like the first edition of the MC in March today also we have a full field and a great day of golf . It is always a pleasure playing the magnificent Dubai Creek golf course.”
Unusually there were three teams tied at the top of the leader board with 39 points which was an excellent score in such windy conditions. Therefore, places were decided on a count-back over the last nine holes and when still tied the last six. Coming out on top after a count-back on the last six holes was the all Creek member team of Jean Hendrickx and Philippe Tartaglia. After the game Hendrickx commented “We did very well today and I have to thank Philippe. His game was fantastic!” Tartaglia put his good form down to the lessons he has been receiving at the Creek Golf Academy; “I’m delighted that we have won today and thanks to the pro’s at the Creek Golf Academy for helping me improve my game recently”.
Winning the runner-up spot with a better back nine was the team of Adam Sweeney and Patrick Morrow. They edged into the third place spot the team of K.P. Sahadevan and Alok Pant.
Winning the nearest the pin prizes on the four par 3 holes were Shahin Khodjasteh, Sidarth Talwar, Balvinder Sindhu, and upcoming junior talent Rayhan Thomas.
Head Golf Professional at Dubai Creek Stephen Hubner commented, “This has been a wonderful event and it is great to see so many of our members enjoying the club. A big thank you must go to Mr Saleh Al Aroub from RUS Aviation and his wife Tatiyana from Rossiyanka for their generous support and for joining us to present the prizes.”
