Sana Tufail wins Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club Ladies Amateur Open 2011

Sana Tufail was crowned Ladies Amateur Open Champion at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club on Saturday 19th March.

Tufail, the talented fourteen year old from Abu Dhabi fired a superb second round of gross one over par to win with a total of 153 (81+72). Tufail was an amazing gross two under par for her last round heading up the daunting 18th hole and had enough shots to play with to eventually get home and take the championship by a clear three shots. Tufail now hopes to follow in the footsteps of past champions Felicity Johnson and Rachael Cassidy who have went onto a career in professional golf.

Tufail commented, “Thank you to all of my playing partners, especially Sandra and all of the ladies who took part.  The greenkeepers made the course in fantastic condition and thank you to the club for staging such a wonderful event.  Also I would like to thank my parents for their continued and dedicated support towards my golf.”

“It was great to see a turnout of 44 ladies taking part over the two days and thank you to all the competitors for making it a successful two days”, commented David Gray, Golf Services Manager.

Overall runner up was Jo Schoeman from Emirates Golf Club with gross 77+80, totaling 157.  In the silver division Serifa D’Souza won with two solid net 70’s, totaling 140 and runner up was Yuko Tsukiori with net 70+73 totaling 143.  The bronze division witnessed G.A Cho card a superb net 64+71 totaling 135 to win by one shot from H.H Choi with 65+71 net 136.

The best net on day on was awarded to Martha Wong with a net 70.  K.S Park won the second day’s best net prize with 66 by virtue of her better back nine from Maureen Platt.
