Saadiyat Beach Classic Gala Dinner raises over 1.9 million AED

On Monday night, stars from the world of golf, sport, film and music came together at the Emirates Palace to celebrate the end of the Saadiyat Beach Classic Pro-Am golf tournament, and raise an unprecedented AED 1.9 million for charity.

Following generous donations throughout a live and silent auction from sponsors, guests and celebrities, HH General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, matched the total already raised to help children’s charities – The Ability Centre for Special Needs, the Emirates Autism Centre, and The Player Foundation.

Hosted by internationally renowned golf player Gary Player, organised by Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), and presented by Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), the Saadiyat Beach Classic Charity Gala Dinner was attended by a host of international pro- golf players, celebrities from the sporting and entertainment world including Colin Montgomerie, Paul Casey, Ian Poulter, ADTA Golf Ambassador Mattero Manessero, Saadiyat Beach Classic Pro-Am winner Thomas Bjorn and runner up Henrik Stenson,
 

Some of the luxury items included in the auctions were a Saadiyat Beach Golf Club Annual Passport for 2011, three specially commissioned art pieces including a piece

by Rokni Haerizadeh, bought by Ian Poulter, and a portrait of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan created by students at the Emirates Autism Centre.
