Royal Golf Club Think Pink Charity Golf Day 2010

The management of the Royal Golf Club is delighted to announce that the sixth annual Think Pink Bahrain Ladies Charity Golf Day will take place at the Club on Wednesday 27th October.

For the second consecutive year and thanks to many requests received in previous years from male golfers wishing to show their support for the Think Pink Bahrain charity, a separate gent’s only tournament will be hosted at the Club on the evening of Sunday 24th October.

“Last year’s tournament raised over BD9000 in aid of raising breast cancer awareness in Bahrain,” explained Phil Jones, the Club’s Director of Operations. “With the help of the local community we aim to cross the BD10, 000 mark this year for this vitally important cause.”

The money raised from this year’s events will once again be directed towards education. To date the money raised has meant that four healthcare professionals have visited Germany for a certified Lymphedema Course, and two are now registered at RCSI Bahrain to study in their Masters Program. These endeavours in turn help the community and those affected by breast cancer.

Experienced lady golfers are invited to compete in an 18-hole Texas Scramble competition on the Royal Golf Club’s Montgomerie championship course teeing off with an 8.00am shotgun start.

Ladies with higher handicaps have the option to play a 9-hole scramble at 9.30am on the club’s Wee Monty par 3 course.

The two ladies tournaments will be rounded off with a lunch and prize-giving ceremony in the Club’s stunning “Majlis” function room.

The men’s 9-hole tournament on 24th October will be played under floodlights on the back 9 of the Montgomerie championship course. The event will tee off at 6.30pm and will be played in the team stableford best 2 of 4 format.

Entry forms for all three tournaments can be found on the Royal Golf Club’s website www.theroyalgolfclub.com

“We have a number of excellent sponsorship opportunities available for these very prestigious events,” explained Julie Sprakel, the founder of Think Pink Bahrain. “Companies can display their company-branded banner on a golf hole from just BD250 or BD100 on the Wee Monty course. This will also entitle them to have their logo on all event signage as well as receiving media coverage before and after the event and recognition at the prize-giving ceremony. We are also looking for companies or individuals willing to sponsor prizes for the main prize winners and for the winners of the various side contests and fun events.”

Sponsors currently signed up to support the 2010 Think Pink Bahrain golf tournaments include BMI, Harley-Davidson and Seef Dental. Optima will once again provide golf shirts for the participants in all three competitions.
