Ross Bain wins NBAD 38th Men’s Abu Dhabi Open Golf Championship for 2nd year in a row
The NBAD 38th Men’s Abu Dhabi Open Golf Championship final round on Saturday at the Al Ghazal Golf Club (AGGC) saw some superb displays golf prowess.
With the harder pin positions to contend with and the early morning blustery conditions, it looked to be a very difficult test of all the competitors golfing skills.
Professional Simon Dunn [Al Hamra Golf Club] scored the best round of the day with a stunning 66. Dunn try as he may with a 32 on the front 9 and 34 on the back couldn’t release Bain’s [Emirates Golf Club] strangle hold on the championship silver salver and despite scoring one over par on the back 9 Bain kept his two shot cushion with a total 138 from Dunn’s 140, to take the 38th NBAD Abu Dhabi Men’s Open Championship at the Al Ghazal Golf Club.
Taking the third place Pro’s slot was new comer to sand golf, Chris Davis [Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club], who came in with a repeat 74 total 142.
In the Amateurs division, Joel Neale kept his head and played steady golf repeating his Fridays score of par to win by one shot on 142 from battling John Mills [Al Ghazal Golf Club] bettering his first round of two over par 73 by three shots to take the second place with a total 143. Third place went to another newcomer Michael Harradine [Jebel Ali Golf Club] whose first ever outing on the sand course was the day before scored a total 152 one shot better than fourth placed Paul King [Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club] beating firth placed Miki Mirza [DCGYC] on count back with a better second days score of 73. Best first and second round winners went to Brett Armstrong [Al Badia Golf Club] 78 and Alex Charawani [AGGC] 74 respectively.
Winner of the overall Nett prize with a total 153 [75 & 78] on countback was John Fellingham [DCGYC] from second placed Jan Philip Friedmann [AGGC], and third place went to AGGC’s Golfer of the Year leader Mark Hayman on 155. Best Nett first and second days were won by Riad Majali [AGGC] 76 and Nathan Brown [AGGC] 77.
Presenting the trophies on behalf of National Bank of Abu Dhabi was Mr. Ali Al Naqbi [Head of Direct Banking & E Development, Consumer Banking Group. In closing Champion Ross Bain thanked Mr. Ali Al Naqbi of title sponsors National Bank of Abu Dhabi and Al Ghazal Golf Club for a most enjoyable event.
