Robert Roars to the Top at Jumeirah Golf Estates May Monthly Medal

An ice cold lemonade was the order of the day at Jumeirah Golf Estates for the majority of the May Monthly Medal field as temperatures soared into the mid forties! To coincide with the rising mercury and hot, humid conditions Robert Duce produced a scintillating display of red hot golf to roar to the top of the May Monthly Medal leaderboard and claim the top honours.

Duce was crowned the Champion following his 4 under par, nett 68 around the Fire Course. Duce, who plays off a 12.5 index, expertly linked together two nines of 40 and 42 respectively for a gross 82 which less his course handicap of 14 gave him his first victory of the calendar year. The highlights of Duce's round were his 8 gross pars and birdie on the par 5, 13th hole. Runner-up in the nett division, one shot further back was Darren Goode with a nett 69 following a fantastic round of 73 gross. The highlights of Goode’s round had to be his 4 superb birdies on holes 5, 8, 14 and 16.

In the gross division Brian McCarthy produced one of his customary rounds to card a one over par gross 73 and claim the best gross award. McCarthy turned for home in 39 shots at the half way stage only to turn up the heat on the back 9 with 3 birdies, two in the last three holes, to return in 34 shots, 2 under par and finish with his 73 total.
