Richardson wins Emirates Golf Federation’s Handicap Scheme Medal

Simon Richardson produced a tidy round to win the Emirates Golf Federation’s Handicap Scheme Medal at the Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club at the weekend.

The talented golfer shot a solid net 73 to take the honours in Division A, beating his nearest rival Nestor Labis on a countback. The competition was equally intense in Division B where Sten von Kuhn kept his cool to card a steady 39 points, a good two points ahead of P.J. Marriott.

Michael Robson won the prestigious best gross prize with a 76 while Glenys Hughes emerged winner in the ladies division on a day when most of the golfers in the field returned some good scores.

Michael Robson and Mark Poulin also made it to the podium, winning the longest drive prizes while nearest to the pin honours went to Paul Stump and Bernadette Futschick.

The tournament, aimed at creating healthy playing opportunities for EGC members, turned out to be a big hit with 52 players lining up for honours at the elegantly laid-out course.

Saeed Albudoor, general manager of the Emirates Golf Federation, thanked the players for their enthusiastic participation in the event. “We had one of the biggest fields since we re-launched the event and that amply reflects on the growing popularity of the event,” he said.
