Riad and Angela are new Al Ghazal Golf Club 2012 Club Champions sponsored by Danat Hotels and Resorts
The prestigious Al Ghazal Golf Club 2012 Club Championship sponsored by Danat Hotels and Resorts came to an end at 2pm Saturday when the new Champions for the 2011/12 Season Riad Majali and Angela Scurr were presented with their trophies.
Riad had past Champion Alex Charawani breathing down his neck most of the way round the course and after 9 holes they were level pegging, but Riad held on and with a birdie 2 on the 16th clinched the exciting battle to win by two shots with a total 155 from second placed Alex on 157 on count back from third placed Mark Hayman who was also in the fray. Fourth place went to Hany Abdelnour on 163. Best first and second day gross went to Rob Jennings 78 and Kevin Darroch 85.
The Ladies Division runner up gross went to Deborah Castle on 182 from third placed Emily Gordon on 187. The Ladies best nett was won by Golfer of the Year leader Ming Brown on 153 from second and third placed Bobo Bradley and Kate Davies on 154 and 157 respectively.
Men’s Best nett was won by Adda Haouara on 141on count back from second placed Alan Dickman, third nett went to Rob Brown on 142 and fourth placed David Parkinson on 151. Best nett first day went to Bernie Blanchard with an impressive 69 and Colum Boyce on 74 for the second day.
2’s Clubs went to John Kudiarskyj, Vernon Whaanga, Hany Abdelnour, Ramesh Emmanuel, Colum Boyce, Rob Brown and Adda Haouara.
Guest of Honour Mr. Walid Nicholas Harouni, Hotels Division Director presented the prizes on behalf of the sponsors Danat Hotels & Resorts.
In closing the Captain Peter McManus and the Men’s new Champion Riad Majali thanked Mr. Walid N. Harouni and Danat Hotels & Resorts for their generous support of Al Ghazal Golf Club.
