Plumb produces superb display to win the Dubai PGA Open at the Els Club Dubai

Al Ain Equestrian Golf & Shooting Club professional Luke Plumb produced a superb display of golf to win the Dubai PGA Open on a perfectly presented Els Club layout on Tuesday.

Playing in one of the early groups, against the biggest UAEPGA field for some time, Plumb produced excellent halves of 35 and 34, which included four birdies and an eagle on hole 8 mixed with three bogeys to beat a high quality field with some shots to spare.

A delighted Luke said “I have been playing in our PGA for a few years now since joining Al Ain, and it was a nice bonus to claim my first win.  I have come close in a few tournaments before.  The eagle on hole eight made a huge difference to my confidence and managed to give me some momentum going into the back nine, which I made the most of)

Runner up was the returning to form Arabian Ranches professional Malcolm Young, after a poor start, played the last 13 holes in four under par to highlight his intentions to claim a victory in the near future. Third place was shared by Matthew Naylor for DG Golf and Abu Dhabi Golf Club player Josh Taylor and level par 72.

These four players were comfortably better than anyone else with the closest players back on three over par 75.

After 5 events of the 2013/14 Order of Merit, Els Club professional heads the standing ahead of Anthony Buchanan and Steven Munro.
