Pillai victorious in the first Robert Trent Jones Championship at Al Badia Golf Club

The first Robert Trent Jones Championship to be played at Al Badia Golf Club took place with a packed field of golfers eager to get their hands on the first trophy of the summer season.
The competition, named after the designer of the course, was won by Dennis Ng, who accumulated an outstanding 40 stableford points in very warm conditions.

The highlight of Dennis’ round came at the start of his back nine where he managed 12 points from just four holes, scoring net eagle at the 12th and 13th hole. The Division A title, for handicaps between zero and 15, went to Madhu Pillai who narrowly missed out on the grand prize with 39 points. Pillai who got a birdie at the 15th hole completed the back nine in only one over par to sign for a fantastic 76.

The on-course prizes went to Tony Billingham for being closest to the pin on the seventh hole and Neil Bishop for the longest drive at hole 12.
