Patla and Vertigen win Rivoli February Members Medals at Jumeirah Golf Estates

The wet and windy conditions did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of the JGE members for the year’s second medal on the Earth Course. With tricky conditions testing all players it was Martin Vertigen and Martin Fernandez who coped best of all, both recording very consistent gross rounds of 76. It was Martin Vertigen who walked away with the best gross of the day by 1 stroke however, with a better inward half of 38.

In division A, Ryan Perkins produced a solid round of 84 giving him a winning net score of 73. Mike Cowley took 2nd spot with a net 74 after a countback victory over Alan Kilminster. Mike’s round was the stereotypical ‘game of two halves’ with an excellent recovery back nine of one over 37. In division B, Hisham Shammas produced the performance of the day with an eye catching net 64. Hisham managed to defy the conditions with a consistent round, and remained focused even after suffering the disappointment of a 2 stroke penalty for striking a fellow competitors ball on the putting green.

Runner Up in division B was Brad Wylie with a very impressive net 69. The highlight of which were his birdies on the par 5  7th and 14th. 3rd spot in division B was decided after a back nine countback between Ehtasham Uddin and David Granell who both shot net 70. Ehtasham took 3rd place with a better back nine of 42 strokes. In the ladies division, Sally Patla walked away with 1st place after an admirable score of 70, including a rare birdie 2 on the 17th hole. Charlotte West took 2nd place with a level par net score of 72.
