Parigi and Violante triumphant in the Dubai Golf Ladies Pairs

On a rather overcast February morning, the first of five Dubai Golf Ladies Pairs events got underway, with a strong field of 48 ladies taking part in a Pairs Betterball Shambles. Kindly sponsored by Project Beauty, and with exciting prizes to play for, the ladies headed out onto the Fire Course in their groups, each made up of a selection of participants from each of the Dubai Golf Clubs; Emirates Golf Club, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club and Jumeirah Golf Estates. This allowed the ladies to get to know each other a little better (if they didn’t already) and make some new friendships.
With a one shot lead and a net score of 60, the Italian duo of Ornella Parigi and Giulia Violante were triumphant with many birdies and several impressive net eagles, resulting in their well-deserved first place position.
Closely following with a net 61, and finishing in second place, were the pair from Emirates Golf Club, Catherine Convery and Phyllis Schulte. They pipped their fellow Emirates members, Chantelle De Villiers and Jenie Oh to the post after a card play off. De Villiers and Oh, however, were both delighted to settle for third spot, also with a credible net 61.
Finally, there were four special events thrown into the mix to add a little extra competition to the ladies day. All of which were nearest to the pins and awarded to the following Dubai Golf lady members: hole two – Mitsuko Emmerson (JGE), hole eight – Seung Ah Jo (DCGYC), hole 11 – Ornella Parigi (JGE) and hole 14 – Helen Srivastava (EGC).
Given the unfortunate weather, the ladies battled the elements in true style and still managed to pull together some commendable scores. Thank you once again to Project Beauty for their continual support and providing some lovely prizes, which were well-received by all of the winners!
The next event in the series will take place on Tuesday 12th March at Emirates Golf Club (Faldo Course) and is an 8.30am shotgun start, Pairs Betterball Stableford format.
