October Golf some good news and I am ready to play

Al Ain Equestrian Shooting & Golf Club

Good day fellow golfers!

First things first, I need to make a correction from my previous post. The first ladies order of merit event is not TEC Ladies Open it is, in fact, the Al Ain Equestrian Shooting & Golf Club Ladies Open on the 14th & 15th October… I felt a bit silly considering it’s my home club but it has been moved to an earlier date. Apologies.

Soooo another month, another column post! And boy, am I glad October is here! The cooler weather couldn’t have come any sooner because I have pretty much forgotten what winter is like here… Apparently, it’s gorgeous but that is the joy of having a short-term memory

Short term memory works fantastically well in golf so I’m not complaining much even as a 1 handicap if I had to remember everything I did on a golf course I’d probably go a bit insane.

Doesn’t always quite work to plan though when you make the same mistake over again! But hey, it’s a great game and it’s exciting no matter what level you play at.

On a personal note, I’ve got some pretty exciting news to share and it’s also brought up an interesting question I’d love to ask. January 2012, I will be officially competing in the LET professional qualification tournament to be held at the La Manga Club in Murcia, Spain.

I’ve worked it out should I make it all the way to the final top 30 (who will get their tour cards) that will mean I have played 162 holes (9 rounds) can you say “gym”?!?! I personally am going to love the experience as I mentioned in the last column there isn’t anything like tournament golf.

Makes me look back on Europe’s win in the Solheim Cup last month. What an incredible comeback from the ladies, it just makes me want to be there one day and hopefully, I will so watch this space! Tournaments like that in the woman’s game inspire woman all over the world to play and there should be more like them around with greater coverage, the golf those ladies can play is phenomenal and can match the men’s game any day of the week!
(Being female I might be slightly biased, just a little he he he)

And finally I’d like to end this column off with a question I’ve been thinking of, has there been any female amateur golfer from a club in UAE that has ever competed in a professional qualification tournament? It would be fantastic for the country if somebody did it, for woman’s golf in UAE which has so much potential!

Thank you so much for reading and happy golfing out there wherever you may be.
