Nicoll comes good again at the UAE PGA Al Ain open

The Al Ain Open was played yesterday in a testing wind at the superbly conditioned Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club.

Home advantage clearly paid a part in the proceedings with home club professionals Tom Buchanon, Fraser McLaughlan and new arrival in the UAE Luke Plumb claiming 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively to represent the host venue admirably. With two neatly constructed halves for a round of level par (71) David Gray set a respectable target only to be overshadowed by his playing partner Callum Nicoll who returned under par scores on the front and back nine for another impressive victory with a solid round of three under par 68.

With this victory being the 4th of the season this all but guarantees the 2012 Order of Merit title for the Els Club Professional, with only 3 events remaining and the Matchplay Championship to conclude it is safe to say Callum will follow last year and claim his second consecutive Order of Merit title.

Our sincere thanks go to Gavin Chappell and all his team at Al Ain E,S & GC for their generous hospitality today and for presenting a course in such wonderful condition, a testament to the ongoing efforts at the club.
