NBAD Sponsors 38th Abu Dhabi Open Golf Championship

The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) has confirmed its sponsorship of the 38th Men’s Abu Dhabi Open Golf Championship, which will be held over the coming weekend of 11th and 12th March 2011 at the Al Ghazal Golf Club (AGGC).

The Open Championship continues to be one of the most popular events of the UAE’s golfing calendar and is an Emirates Golf Club ‘Order of Merit’ event.

“NBAD is proud to have sponsored the Abu Dhabi Ladies Open for the past 27 years, and this year will be the 4th time we are sponsoring the 38th NBAD Abu Dhabi Men's Open," said Mr. Michael Tomalin, the Group Chief Executive of NBAD.
“We are delighted to continue this sponsorship, as part of our contribution to the social and sporting life of a very special place.  As I said last year, all these, and other similar events, are part and parcel of the history of the UAE and a source of pride to UAE nationals and many other nationalities who consider Abu Dhabi their home”.

“AGGC is very proud and honoured to have such a longstanding and valued connection with the UAE’s Number One Bank and one of the World’s top 50 Safest Banks, National Bank of Abu Dhabi” said Angela Scurr – Manager, Al Ghazal Golf Club.”

“The 38th Abu Dhabi Men’s Open is open to both Amateur and Professional Golfers and carries a purse of Dh. 15,000- which is competed for by the Professional Golfers.  Ross Bain [Professional] last year’s Champion has confirmed that he will be defending his NBAD Title.  However, he may find some stiff competition with many other Professionals playing including our own Teaching Professional Mark Ireland who has been practicing hard over the past several weeks.  On the Amateurs side we are pleased to confirm John Mills’ participation last year’s best amateur, and as an added bonus this year he’ll be playing in AGGC’s colours! said Scurr”.

The event will start from 7.30 am Friday, spectators are most welcome to come and watch the event unfold and see how golf is played on the best sand course in the Gulf!
