National Day Triumph For Kelly And Feenie at Al Hamra Golf Club
Steve Kelly and Mags Feenie picked up the top awards in the National Day Open which took place on Saturday 7th December at Al Hamra Golf Club.
Mags produced her best ever round and first competition win by recording a fantastic 67 after posting 35 on the front nine and an awesome 32 on the back which included 2 net eagles and 7 net birdies. This turned out to be 3 shots better than her nearest rivals Simon Sinclair and Greg Maddox who both carded identical rounds of 70. The subsequent card play-off would result in Simon receiving the runners-up prize after recording the best back nine.
Steve Kelly, the lowest handicapped player in the field, took top honours in the gross division with a score of 75. After being two under through eleven holes Steve then unfortunately dropped six shots over his final seven holes for a disappointing but comfortable eleven shot victory. Collecting the runners-up prize in the gross division was Al Hamra member Mike Dunn who continued his consistent recent form for an 86 to finish two clear of fellow member Tony Cashman who posted 88. The two nearest the pin prizes were scooped up by Steve Kelly on hole eleven and Eric Engelbrecht on hole 4.
