Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club News

Most exciting team Golf event in the UAE is back for the third year at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club

Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club is line up the best golfers from all corners of the earth to do battle.

The Battle of the Continents is now in its third year and is growing faster than anyone could imagine. With sponsorship again renewed from NMT Global Projects the 5 events will host more golfers than ever before with superb prizes and the opportunity to also win a BMW car during the Final. This year’s tournament also received a major boost with both UAE Golf Online and Golf Digest Middle East Supporting the event.

Martin Duff, Director of Golf at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club was asked for his thoughts on the event and replied “The major brands that are coming together to support this event will help it grow this year, we have lots of interest from golfers throughout the UAE.”

Last year’s NMT Battle of the Continent Champions Asia (picture below) will look to repeat a dominating 2 year stretch, after last year’s win which saw them take victory in the inaugural competition by 8 clear points.  The team captains have been promoting the event to all players, each trying to gather 8 of the best players to wear their Continents colours.

Each section of the BOTC has a Captain and the field in each qualifier will play for 8 slots in the Grand Final on January 16th (the best 3 best gross and 5 best net scores make qualify). In the final the 8 qualifiers, and their Captains, will play with 1 representative from each of the 3 other continents in an 18 hole Stableford Matchplay competition. The leading score from the 4 ball will be awarded 4 points for their team and the player with the fewest points from the flight will receive 1 point.  The continent with the most points from the 9 matches will lift the trophy

The continents are split up as follows and the respective Captains and dates for the qualifiers are as below:

Vivian Verma from sponsors NMT Global Projects commented “After the success of the event in the first year we were more than happy to show our support of the competition for the second successive year. It’s a truly unique format, and proved extremely exciting, the feedback we received from the competitors last year was overwhelming and they can’t wait to try and once again qualify for their continent. The international nature of the event also fits our global logistics platform perfectly.  We have offices in all of the participating continents and we hope the event allows us to further strengthen relationships with some of the people and companies who support our specialist logistical services”.
