Morrow wins March Mashreq Medal Championship at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club

The March edition of the Mashreq Medal Championship in association with BMW took place this past weekend at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.  The new order of merit series has proved extremely popular with members and again this month enjoyed a full field of over 100 players.  BMW added extra value to this month’s event in the form of a BMW 1-Series car which was the ‘Hole in One’ prize on the par 3, 14th.

Patrick Morrow proved his return to form as he got back to winning ways with a superb net 67.    After being presented his prize Mr. Morrow commented; “I’m glad to be back in form having fell by the wayside for the past 6 months.  The course, tee to green, is in truly great shape and this along with perfect weather only made the day and the event more enjoyable.”

Rami Safadi took the Men’s Division A title with a solid 1-under par net 70.  Meanwhile, Mark Joliffe enjoyed his first taste of winning as he made a very respectable net 70 to take the runner-up spot.  Ajay Goel also put on a great display as he clinched the Men’s Division B title with another net 67 having lost out on the count-back to Morrow for the main prize.  This wasn’t without some tough competition from last month’s winner, Mark Bishop, who continued his form and took the runner-up spot with a very respectable net 68.

Vanessa North secured her 2nd win of the series as she took the Ladies title with a level par net 71.  Ryan Riley was almost without fault as he fired a superb 72 to take the best gross prize.  Two juniors, Adam Savage and Rishi Nair played extremely well and both finished with score of net 67.  However it was Nair who narrowly beat Savage on a better inward half to take the Junior Division title.

Kennon Ryder, Miki Mirza and junior, Asanka White were all rewarded for their birdies in the 2’s club, whilst Joy Lirio and Mark McCarthy were successful in the Captains Raffle.

After conducting the prize presentation, Dubai Creek’s Head Professional Stephen Hubner commented; “It really is wonderful to once enjoy such a well supported event.  The new series is clearly a big hit with the membership and our thanks as always must go to Mashreq Bank and BMW for their tremendous support.”
