Mohamed’s Majestic Performance In The National Day Open at Al Hamra Golf Club

The event saw golfers from all over the Middle East travelling to Ras Al Khaimah ready to take on the very different challenges that both golf courses pose.

 

Day one of the event was held at Tower Links Golf Club where competitors teed of from 12pm onwards on the superbly conditioned championship course. The scoring for day one turned out to be some what mixed with only 8 players having scored 36 points or more. Richard Mawson took day ones best score with a solid 38 points. The four nearest the pin prizes for day one were picked up by Richard Mawson on Hole No. 4, Robert Craquelin on Hole No. 8, Norma Williamson on Hole No. 16 and S.P. Hong on Hole No. 18.

The second and final day of the competition took place at Al Hamra Golf Club where competitors teed of in an 8am shotgun start. Abdul Moizkhan picked up the prize for best score on day two having carded a superb 39 points. The four nearest the pin prizes for day two were picked up by Dan Blomstrand on Hole No. 4, Brian Comb on Hole No. 7, Fraser Moore on Hole No. 11 and Adam Gibson on Hole No. 15.

The leaderboard turned out to be quite spread out with a massive 9 points separating the top 3 places. In the end 3rd place went to Roderick Thompson who carded scores of 37 and 36 points giving him a total of 73 points. Second Place went to Dave Clark who carded scores of 42 and 35 points giving him a total of 77 points. The winner and 2011 National Day Open Champion was Mohamed Islam who carded fantastic scores of 38 and 44 points giving him a total of 82 points, which was enough to win by 5.
