Gerry Gibson, the iron man of Tower Links has finally cracked the big one as he was crowned the Winner of the social stableford on May 11th.
Gibson’s maiden victory has been brought about not but luck but by his relentless work ethic, determination and desire to succeed to the heights of his idols, Steve Elkington and Jackie Burke. Gerry’s trade mark “Fro” and languid swing can be spotted most days before and after work as he looks for that secret in the dirt, I do believe you have found it Mr. Gibson, well done.
Yuki Pellerine’s form has continued from last week’s Championships as she found herself alone in second place on 21 stableford points. Pellerine can only blame the 17th hole for her fall from top place as she recorded a very lack luster double bogey 6 in what is a fairly easy hole for the majority of the lady competitors.
Sharjah visitor Jeff Baker slipped in front of J.I. Park and S.P. Hong courtesy of a count back to claim third place with 20 stableford points and can blame a cold putter for not featuring alongside Gibson.
Spooning on the night was Karaoke King / pool table ornament Mr. Graham Jones who stormed round the course in 9 points with nearly half of them coming on hole 17 where he netted a whopping 4 pointer. Mr. Jones the practice range beckons, run along.
