May Rivoli Members Monthly Medal at Jumeirah Golf Estates
The May member’s monthly medal sponsored by Rivoli was an interesting affair as with summer arriving and temperatures rising participants in this month’s medal seemed to thrive under these conditions and return some very low numbers indeed. Division A (0 – 12.4 Index) contained an array of low scores over the Fire course. Adam Findlay recorded half’s of net 33 and 34 to record an overall net 67, 5 under par to collect the first place prize by a margin of two shots. Second place was awarded to Martin Fernandez. Martin’s net 69 illustrated his consistent play over both nines of net 34 and 35 shots to record another high finish in a member’s event this season.
Division B (12.5 – 28 Index) witnessed an amazing effort from Philip Mercer who found his form on the Fire course with an incredible net 63, 9 under par. Out in net 33 Phil stepped up a gear in the homeward nine covering the last four holes in 5 under par to record an inward nine of net 30 shots, winning Division B by a margin of five. The race for second place was a closer affair requiring a card count back over the inward half to determine the final positions. Rod Jones and Giordano Gelasini both recorded net 68’s, 4 under par with Rod managing to cover the final nine holes with a net 37 to conclude the second place result.
Laura Sole certainly found her game and contributing by the smile she had when handing in her card, all the hard work she had put into her game certainly paid off in this month’s medal. Playing the Fire course, her game certainly caught fire as an outward half of net 29, Laura managed to maintain her composure for the remainder of the round to sign off a backward half of net 30 to record an overall net score of 59. A truly marvelous achievement. Second place was awarded to last month’s ladies medal winner, Julia Sykes. Julia posted a 2 under par net 70 to collect the runners up prize by 2 shots.
