Madhav conquers inaugural FIGME SUMMER EYE BALL 2011
The Filipino Golfers in the Middle East inaugural Summer Eye Ball, Annual Stroke Play Golf Classic 2011 awarded Madhav Nair as its first over all Champion with a net score of 69 playing off 18 HCP.
Madhav maneuvered his way in the front 9 with 5 pars and 4 pars in the back nine garnering a gross 87. The par 71 DCGYC saw 48 FIGME members and guests battle out for supremacy over the steamy and humid conditions last Friday, 2nd September. It was a day of high scores with most of the golfers struggling to get hold of the fairways and difficulty in the putting green.
Dan Alforte, Nestor Labis, Rey Lapa, Rudy Laguna and Vic Liwanag {FIGME Members} are the sponsors of the OOM (Order of Merit) Event. Emirates Healthcare Limited (EHL) led by David Hadley (CEO) and Garreth Estment provided the give aways (door prizes) to all players. Arabian Nights Tours sponsored seven dessert safari vouchers for the raffle draw aside from other golf equipment which was raffled off as well.
Patrick Morrow, lowest handicapper (4) snatched the BEST GROSS of the Day with a 77 net 73. Two birdies and nine pars saw the FIGME member stunning the pack of golfers.
Alex Tivi (86 / 75), Arnel Pabitu (88 / 78 ) and David Gowans (86 / 81) obtained honors in the Platinum (0 – 13) Division as Champion, 1st and 2nd runner up.
Gold Division (14 – 26 HCP) saw Larry Mendoza, as the best in this Category followed by Chito Albay and Joy Lirio ending with 70 and 78 net with Albay winning over a better back from Ms. Lirio.
Werner Rooseboom was at the top of The Silver “Guest” Division (0 – 26) with a gross 87 net 74 followed by Michael Groves 84/76 and Adam Sweeney (86/80).
Special events saw Larry Clarina and Paul Welling winning Nearest the Pins on holes 5 & 16. Nearest the Pin in 2nd shot was held by Mike Groves (hole 11) and Dan Alforte with the latter seeing the ball beside the cup with-in 3 inches almost an eagle in hole 3, 333 yards. Longest drive saw a regular winner, David Hadley of Emirates Healthcare Limited (EHL) hitting a 320 in hole 12, 454 yards missing a birdie putt and holing out with a par.
Ramon Navea, FIGME Chairman handed over the perpetual trophy to Madhav Nair and thanked all the patrons of the event with special gratitude to all the golfers most especially to the guests and creative photographers, Brylle Steven and Dan Carlo!
