Ladies Inter Club Challenge results from the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club

The ladies Inter – Club Challenge got underway recently at the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. Teams of ten ladies from four different clubs across the UAE including Dubai Creek Golf Club, Abu Dhabi Golf Club, Al Badia Golf Club and Al Ain Equestrian Shooting & Golf Club teed off in the first event of the four event series.  The format was individual stable-ford with the best 8 out of 10 scores counting towards the team’s series total.

After the mornings play it was Dubai Creek member Berthe Reinke who made full use of the home course advantage and made a superb 36 points to take top honours.  The Dubai Creek ladies team proved to be in good form as there was a two way tie between team mates Maureen Platt and Naema Maya.  In the end it was Platt who took runner up spot over Maya with a better last 6 score of 11 points to Maya’s 10 points.  The Dubai Creek team put in a solid performance and shot a combined score of 269 points to put themselves in a great position heading into the second event of the series.

Other prizes on the day were won by Lucia Campbell of Al Ain Golf Club who took the nearest the pin prize on the tough par-3 8th hole. Abu Dhabi Golf Club member Shawn Lunday knocked it close to take the nearest the pin prize on the par-3 14th.  The longest drive of the day went to Paromita Mukherjee of Abu Dhabi Golf Club for her solid drive down the 12th fairway.  Corinne Martin of Al Badia Golf Club showed some great precision to take the prize for the straightest drive on the par-4 3rd.
After conducting the prize giving Dubai Creek Professional Craig Waddell commented; “Well done to all 4 teams today and also our individual winner Berthe Reinke. There was some fantastic golf played and I wish all who are involved much luck and success for the remaining team events of the season”
