Korneski and Parigi on Fire during the Jumeirah Golf Estates International Pairs UAE qualifier

A bit of a strange title perhaps, but the pairing of Kayleigh Korneski and Ornella Parigi certainly did turn on the heat on the fabulous Fire course on Friday as they ran away with the Jumeirah Golf Estates Daman Investments International Pairs qualifier with a fantastic score of 44 Stableford points.

As always, the course was in immaculate condition, and proved a true test for the 60-odd competitors in the third-from-last qualifier for the UAE Final in May. With conditions almost perfect for golf Kornseki and Parigi blended perfectly to record one of the highest scores in any of the fifteen qualifiers to date.

Although first place was a clear cut affair, the placings behind them were anything but, and after a count back the pairing of Ryan Perkins and Ryan John Szescila took the runners-up spot with 41 points after a countback from Kevin and Mahyra Roy.

Once again the Virgin Atlantic Airways hole-in-one prize of tickets to New York went unclaimed, but the nearest-the-pin on the 14th hole was taken by Matt Wallhead, whilst that on the 18th was won by none other than Kayleigh Korneski, cementing their victory in the process.

Kayleigh and Ornella now go forward to the UAE Final at the Emirates Golf Club on 21st May, where they will compete with 17 other qualifying pairs for a place in the world final in Spain in October.

Presenting the prizes, OnCourse Golf’s Steve Rutter went out of his way to thank the title sponsorship Daman Investments for their support, along with the other sponsors Virgin Atlantic, Mediclinic, Visa, AGMC/BMW, Sport 360, UAE Golf Online, and Standard Chartered Bank.

The next Daman Investments International Pairs qualifier will take place at The Address Montgomerie on 4thApril. Club members wishing to participate should enter through their home club.
