“King for the day” Fisher leading the way with a Course Record in Dubai

Ross Fisher hit a superb course record 64 (-8) to share the lead with Ian Poulter

Ross Fisher on fire! Poulter will start the 3rd round on -9, admitting he played a “Flawless round of Golf”

There were many great pairings and battles unfolding throughout the round as the top players slugged it out in the superb Dubai sunshine.

Mcdowell failed to materialize with a firm challenge to Kaymer’s overall merit lead scoring a disappointing +1. Jaidee was paired with Kaymer and has also pushed himself on the leaderboad in a good position to -7.

But the weekend has now shaped up to be more than just that, the leaderboard looks a who’s who of current European Golf. Apart from Mcdowell, it could not have been ordered in a better way. Sponsors, the Tour and the public will surely be excited about the next 2 days play with any number of top class players in with a shout.

Westwood looks to be getting himself in the zone and will not be letting go of his title to anyone that easily. Him and Poulter (who were paired together today), had some friendly banter both on and off the course but mixed it with with a double assault of solid golf, scoring a 67 and 68 respectively. Both players birdied the first 3 holes with Poulter going one better and adding 1 on the fourth, a superb start. There were in fact 5 players who birdied all 3 opening holes on the spin today, amazing stat.

Yesterdays’ leader Karlsson also failed to build on a good start hitting a 75 and his playing partner Noh also couldn’t do the same.

It’s all set up for a superb final 2 days here at the Earth Course with a mouth-watering leader board and prospect for any golf fan. The event is proving to be a great success and the crowds were also healthy, bathing in the sun and enjoying the entertainment to the full.

Roll on tomorrow!
