Khanna, Sayal and Nanda’s Celebrate Emirates Golf Club 25th Anniversary in Style

The 25th Anniversary Golf Day attracted a fantastic field of 150 members, competing in a 5-man Scramble over the Majlis course.

The tournament, marking the opening of Emirates Golf Club on 8th March 1988, seemed to inspire the competitors who produced some unbelievable scoring. The quintet of Ashish Nanda, Chanchal Nanda, Nikhil Nanda, Shravan Khanna and Connie Sayal signed for a gross 58 (14-under par), net 53.4. A fantastic round included an out ward nine of seven birdies and an eagle two on the par four ninth hole. This was followed with five birdies and an eagle on the back nine.

The champions closest rivals was the team of Dalip Tripathi, Rohit Amin, Jayshree Gupta, Rohit Gupta and Rashid Ali who fired a gross 59, net 56.6 to claim runners-up place. Maura Duggan, Frank Duggan, Paul Byrne, Saeed Fahim and Keith Prosser clinched third on 57.6. The ‘Vice Captain’s Team’ of Dick Purchase, Barbara Head, Chris Purchase, Alan Main and Lorraine Main claimed fourth on 56.6. The last team on the prize podium was Nishith Patel, Aaron Loats, Suresh Shewakramani, Tony Azoulay and Gurmukh Ghuldu on 57.6 and in fifth spot.
Also in the prizes, all courtesy of ProSports, were Juggie Brar and Veneet Mohan following their accuracy on the nearest the pin prize holes.

A week of celebrations was capped off in style with an evening buffet and entertainment. The VPAR live-scoring system, headed up by life member and tour professional Ross Bain, was also a great hit with all concerned.
