Khalifa Omar and Abdulrahman Rashid win the Emirates Golf Federation’s Par3 League titles

Khalifa Omar and Abdulrahman Rashid provided a glimpse of their raw talent when they won the Emirates Golf Federation’s Par-3 League titles in their respective divisions at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club at the weekend.

Omar carded a gross 35 over the par-27 course to take the honours in Division A for players aged 16 and under, a good three shots ahead of Abdullah Bin Thani, who made his second podium finish of the season.

Competition was equally interesting in Division (12 and under) where Rashid scored a gross 33 over six holes, winning the title by a good 10 shots from Marwan Skaik, who finished runner-up on a countback. Young Ahmed Skaik fired a great tee shot on the tricky ninth hole to win the nearest to the pin prize.

An integral part of the National Junior Programme, the league is aimed at introducing young Emiratis to golf in a fun-filled environment. “Once again we had a fantastic turn-out with 25 youngsters, accompanied by their parents and friends, lining up for honours,” said Saeed Albudoor, general manager of the Emirates Golf Federation.

“The league is growing bigger and stronger after each event and that shows our Junior National Programme is moving forward in the right direction,” he said.
“With just one more event left to be played in the league, we are working on the Order of the Merit and the winner will be invited to compete in the season-ending Pepsi Am event,” Albudoor added.

“I would like to thank our national coaches Chris Vallender and Jason Froggatt for organizing the league, and the Dubai Creek staff, as usual, were spot on in setting up the course,” he added.
