Jumeirah Golf Estates quartet win the April Members and Guests Event on the Earth Course

Overcast conditions over the Earth course did not cause too much of a concern with the April Members & Guests field that assembled as team work was certainly shown in this Team Shamble event.

The quartet of JGE members, Nick Mequita, Dean Stothard, Maurits Klavert and guest, Jim Gordon piloted their way around the DP World Tour Championship venue in an astonishing outward 54 Stableford points combined with an inward nine or 48 to win US Masters themed event. Closely followed into second place was the ever present team of Anne, Peter Bauer with Jaana and Kari Stenman. The husbands and wifes team fashioned two halves of 53 and 47 points respectively over the eighteen holes to take second place by a single point from third place finishers, Dave Grannell, Peter Sharpe, Simon Howells and their guest, Calum Stewart. Their early finish and heightened joy at producing a 99 stableford point was dashed by the explosive display of golf and points from both teams respectively.

As with the US Masters, it is customary for participants to skim a ball across the pond on the 16th Hole at Augusta National. The 17 Hole on the Earth course is our equivalent. 4.5hrs later and roughly 60 balls in the water only one participants managed to complete the challenge. Congratulations to Martin Vertigen, a couple of skips and onto green.

Congratulations to all prize winners we look forward to seeing you allat our next club event.
