Jumeirah Golf Estates January Members and Guest Event result

The opening Members & Guests Event of the golfing season was a close affair where many teams battled over the Fire course to collect the first silverware of 2013.

It was always going to be a high stableford points affair with the format of the contest based on teams recording the best two stableford scores out of the four per hole. Setting an early pace and finishing in third place with a very commendable tally of 87 points was the team of Denise Fennell, Mick Fennell, Chloe Dillon and Mark Yasmin Ali.

Their consistent nines of 42 and 45 points was only two points short of taking second place from the quartet of Michelle Walsh, Jonathan Hall, Zuzana Pourova and Shabir Yakub. A quick start to the round saw the party of four record 46 stableford points for their first nine holes and if it were not for a quieter scoring final two holes their sterling effort left them only one point short of being awarded the winners on 89 stableford points.

It was their final sprint to the end, collecting a remarkable 48 points for the closing nine holes which aided Ayaz Afridi, Nadir Mohammadi, Omer Iqbal Khan and Avinash Pangarkar in receiving the first prize of 2013. A total score of 90 stableford points secured the triumphant team a great start to the 2013 tournament schedule at JGE and graciously accepted their winning prizes.
