Jones Plots way to Engineers Cup Triumph on the Majlis

Steve Jones triumphed by the narrowest of margins in the Engineers Cup over the Majlis course with a fabulous 40 points from the black tees. Also on a 4-under par tally was Glyn Sowerby who had to settle for runners-up place after missing out on the back nine count back.

Jones praised his short game after the round, ‘the added yardage from the black tees resulted in lengthy approach shots but my short game held together well to post a winning tally’. The highlight of his round was a birdie four on the 568-yard 3rd hole.

Ian Browning continued his up and down form, having won the August medal he again found himself in the prizes with a 38-point tally to clinch third place.

Manoj Kapur took top prize in Division A (handicap 0-12) with a solid 35 points, his superior back six holes edged out Joseph Bishop into runners-up position. Andy Hendry was surprised to find himself in the prizes and his 37 points was good enough to claim Division B (handicap 13-24) by two strokes from Anand Lakhiani.
