Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa pro Stuart Fee’s Amazing Comeback

Following a small stroke earlier this year, Stuart had to take several months off work and his golf game in order to recuperate. Sheer determination and the passion to pursue his natural talent ensured Stuart made a strong return to the world of golf and he began celebrating once again in May when he won the UAE Matchplay Championship.

At the start of December, Stuart played in the UAE PGA Qualifier for the Abu Dhabi Championship, to be held in early 2012. Although bad weather conditions meant that scores weren’t as low as expected, Stuart walked away as the eventual winner, securing his place alongside Tiger Woods and Lee Westwood in Abu Dhabi next month.

Stuart faced a slight dilemma regarding the tournament date, explaining “The Abu Dhabi Championship starts on 26th January 2012 and my wife is due to give birth to our first-born on the 22nd, exactly one year to the date of my stroke.  As my biggest supporter, she has insisted I represent Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa and Dubai at the Championship and I know I have her full support. I’m looking forward to playing as it’s a fantastic experience that will only help develop my game. I’m delighted to be playing alongside professionals I respect and admire, although my day job is teaching, not actually playing, so I’ll have to get in a bit more practice”.

James Williams, Director of Golf at Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa said “This really is a remarkable accomplishment. Stuart doesn’t get much leisure time on the course due to his teaching responsibilities and given everything he has undergone this year, this is a truly amazing turnaround. All golf professionals dream of playing in events of this stature and this achievement illustrates what a talented young man he is”.

Fredrik Reinisch, General Manager of Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa added “Stuart has our full support and everyone here at the resort is backing him in the tournament. We’re very proud to have him represent us in Abu Dhabi and we wish him all the luck in the world. He is a true inspiration when it comes to working for what you believe in and I’m sure 2012 will start better for him than 2011 did”.

Earlier this year, Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa was voted Middle East’s Leading Golf Resort and Dubai’s Leading Golf Resort at the 2011 World Travel Awards. Using this award-winning 9-hole course as his practice ground, Stuart will certainly give the pros a run for their money in January.
