James Cook and Sana Tufail win at the 2014 Yas Links Club Championship

The Yas Links Club Championship held annually every year since its opening is truly one of our signature events held only for our Members to compete for the top title as Club Female or Male Champion.

With this come not only trophies, bragging rights and prizes graciously provided by TaylorMade, but the winners name inscribed on a wooden plaque hung on our wall in the Yas Links reception for many years to come. The 2 day event was heavily subscribed more so then in previous years, ensuring a competitive spirit on the days participants.

Winner of the Ladies Nett category was Grace Groves who finished with a highly impressive 147 points, leaving Ying Hoong Fun not far behind with a fantastic 151 points. Men’s first place Nett winner of the day finished with a very solid 147 points putting him strongly in the first place role. Second place was a very close call but was won over on the last 9 holes on the 2nd day of the challenge by Brian McClure who finished with a fantastic 151 points.

In the gross division Sharon Hall finished the Championship with a two day gross score of 178 in ladies category. Our Ladies Club Champion for the 2014 year was Sana Tufail. Tufail finished the tournament with an astonishing 146 gross placing her in an extremely solid and well deserved 1st place title. Our Junior Sana continues to sweep competitions on a regular basis all around the UAE and is one to watch for years to come.

Ryan Hunter, another Junior Member of ours wowed but didn’t surprise his fellow members when he took the 2nd place gross title of the competition. It was a tough go, but it was his on the last 9 holes of the 2nd day of the tournament when he finished with 149 gross. Very well deserved, James Cook, who is no stranger ever to our leaderboard in tournaments took home the 1st place title as Men’s 2014 Club Champion of the year. He finished with an incredible 147 gross over the 2 day tournament. James continues to come out on top and shows no signs of slowing down.
