Jake and Ming winners of the 2012 Airport Cup at Al Ghazal Golf Club
New comer Jake Peate wins the BBM Fashions Airport Cup for the men’s division with 77 points on count back from overnight leader Jim Pullinger. Ladies division winner Ming Brown with a total of 72 points laid down the gauntlet to the rest of the Al Ghazal Golf Club ladies for the 2012/13 season!
Saturday’s second round of the BBM Fashions 2012 Airport Cup started in fine weather with a 9am shotgun start at the Al Ghazal Golf Club! Overnight Men’s leader Jim Pullinger on 41 points was hoping to keep up his form from the previous day, but with only one point ahead of rivals Rob Brown and Jake Peate both on 40 points respectively, Jim was going to have to keep a calm head. There was also the threat of the very capable ‘pack of 4’ of Walter Tiamfook, Ken Ritzal, Captain Rupert Evans and Vernon Whaanga on 38 points of to contend with.
It came down to the wire with Jim and Jake both scoring an total of 77 points, but Jake prevailed on count back by way of a better second day score of 37 points one point ahead of Jim’s 36 points. In third place was Vernon Whaanga [75], fourth place Rob Brown [71]. Best first day went to Walter Tiamfook [38] and Best second day Colum Boyce [37].
Runner up to Ming in the Ladies Division, was Emily Gordon [68], from third place Angela Tiamfook [67] and fourth Anette Rego [62] winning on count back from Anina Bester who won Best second day [34], Best first day went to Chaya Kinder [28].
Partner and Managing Director Mr. Baha and Anne Wafaa presented the prizes on behalf of sponsors BBM Fashions.
In closing Captain Rupert Evans thanked BBM Fashions sponsors Mr. Baha, Anne and Boff Wafaa for their support of the AGGC and 2012 Airport Cup.
