It is time for New Year’s Resolution…. again

Mine is to build a more solid long game and improve my short game, especially the putting!

If there was any doubt about Rory being able to hack it when the going is tough then surely there are none now, he is well on his way on the journey to being a Golfing Legend and I am really pleased to have met him and seen him practice. It really couldn’t happen to a nicer guy, he really is an inspiration to juniors in the region.

And earlier in December, whilst the LET Lady Pro’s were fighting for who was going to win at the Dubai Ladies Masters on the final day at another venue, at the Yas Links Ladies Open, it was the battlefield for ladies from all over the UAE and beyond to jostling to climb up the EGF Ladies Order of Merit. It really is pleasing to see so many girls now competing in the senior events, and to see them making their mark amongst the top ten in the table. On a wet and windy day, Yas Links proved to be a stern test and yet it was a pleasure to play on such a fantastic course which has been voted amongst the best 60 courses in the world, surely yet another record amongst new courses. Yas Links is hardly 4 years old and already it is on the golfing world map as one of the best, someone, somewhere must be doing something right! Sorry to digress, but back to the tournament, it was great to see three juniors on the podium, with Anastasia Bakal taking 3rd, Kim Chiang taking 2nd and yours truly taking 1st.

On a personal level, I am struggling with my swing, so whilst I wait for the fix I am concentrating on improving my short game, I was fortunate to have been invited by Mercedes Benz to play for their Pro-Am Team in the ODLM, and see our Pro Cindy Lacrosse play marvelous golf, she really did hit her approach shots close to the pin and sink some awesome putts, it really came as no surprise to see her take 5th place on the final day, and it was really inspiring to see such an awesome short game from close up. Perhaps this was the inspiration that gave me two 9\u2019s of 34 and 33 to hit a gross 67 in the Yas Links Open, a week earlier I managed a 31 on the back 9 on day 2 of our club championship, so I believe my short game is heading in the right direction, but I still have tons of work to sort out in the long game, my coach keeps saying Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Bye for now and a Happy New Year!
