Invitational Scratch League Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club qualify for final 4

Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club travelled away from home and beat Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club by 3 ½ – ½ in Match Day 18 of the 2010 – 2011 Invitational Scratch Golf League.

This final result in the round robin stages sees Dubai Creek join the other three League winners Emirates Golf Club, Arabian Ranches and Al Badia in the Semi-Finals.

The Semi-Final draw sees Al Badia Golf Club play Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club and in the other Semi-Final three times defending League champions Emirates Golf Club play 2006 – 07 League champions Arabian Ranches Golf Club.

Bob Driver, Invitational Scratch Golf League Co-ordinator said at the conclusion of the match, ‘With all the round robin matches now complete we now progress to the business end of the tournament. Both Semi-Finals will be played at neutral venues which we hope to finalise shortly. It is appropriate at this time to acknowledge the two individuals who have won all four of their games to date – Doug McLennan from Arabian Ranches and John Fellingham from Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club.’

The format of the Invitational Scratch League has seen 12 UAE Golf Teams participating in 4 separate leagues competing with 4 matches per team in a round robin format – one at home and one away against the other two teams. Each team consists of 8 players a side playing in a fourball scratch matchplay format. A win saw the team collect a 2 point bonus plus the games won and a 2 – 2 halved match resulted in an allocation of 3 points for both teams.

Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club ½ match ( ½ Point) lost to Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club (Al Ain names first) 3 ½ matches (5 ½ Points).
A. Purves & J. Muirhead lost to T. Fadlu-Deen & C. Stephenson 4 & 3.

R. Noble & E. Cunniffe lost to J. Fellingham & S. Malik 4 & 3.
