Invitational Scratch Golf League – Teams and Leagues announced for 2011 – 2012 season
The Organising Committee of the 2011 – 2012 UAE Invitational Scratch Golf League has announced that twelve teams will participate in this season’s tournament.
Bob Driver, Co-ordinator of the league said at the announcement, ‘We are delighted to confirm that all the invited clubs have agreed to participate again in this season’s Invitational Scratch Golf League which as per last season will run via four leagues of three teams per league with all teams within their league playing each other on a home and away basis i.e. each club will play two games at home and two away.’
The twelve teams have been allocated leagues as follows;
League A;
Emirates Golf Club,
Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club,
The Els Club, Dubai.
League B;
Arabian Ranches Golf Club,
Sharjah Wanderers Golf Club / Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club,
Tower Links Golf Club / Al Hamra Golf Club – Ras al Khaimah.
League C;
Al Badia Golf Club, Dubai,
The Address Montgomerie, Dubai,
Al Ghazal Golf Club, Abu Dhabi.
League D;
Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club,
Abu Dhabi Golf Club,
Yas Links, Abu Dhabi.
‘The league fixtures in the Round Robin first round all have to be scheduled by 5 pm on 31st October, 2011. All league fixtures have to be completed by 31st March, 2012.
The leading teams in each of the leagues will qualify for the semi-finals with the winners of league A playing the winners of league B and the winners of league C playing the winners of league D at neutral venues with the two semi-final winners playing in the Grand Final match.
The format of the Invitational Scratch Golf League is 8 male players in each team with play in fourball scratch matchplay played from the medal tees of the hosting golf club.
‘Emirates Golf Club will once again start as favourites having won the title for the last 4 seasons. The only other champions were Arabian Ranches Golf Club who won the Invitational Scratch Golf League title in its inaugural year in 2006 – 07. We welcome all teams again and look forward to a successful and competitive 2011 – 2012 season,’ concluded Driver.
