Indian Golf Society Crowned Dubai Creek Inter Society Champions for 2011

The Indian Golf Society (IGS) were crowned Dubai Creek Inter-Society Golf Champions for 2011 sponsored by Ecco on Friday 13th May over the testing Dubai Creek course. 

 

The format played was a pair’s betterball stableford with the best three pairs form the team of four pairs to count towards the overall society team score.  With two great scores posted early in the clubhouse the Indian Golf Society were looking clear favorites and they came through to win with a total of 123 and by a clear margin of six points.  The Jebil Ali Golfers Society (JAGS) finished in runners up spot with 117 points and Emirates Golf Society (EGS) finished in third place with 113 points.

The winning Indian Golf Society team consisted of Anan Lakhiani, Sashi Raghavan, Farad Lakdawala, Naresh Handa, Karup Devanad, Suneel Aggarwal, Alok Pant and Dubai Creek Club Captain, Joseph Andrade.

“Congratulations to the Indian Golf Society for repeating their 2009 victory and a well deserved win this year with three great pair’s scores of 45, 41 and 37 points.  It was great to see eleven societies and a total of eighty eight golfers taking part so thanks to all the society organizers for their support.  Thank you to Nimal Perera and Aija Karklina from ECCO for their continued support of the event for the third year and contributing the superb prizes for all the winners.” commented David Gray, Golf Services Manager at Dubai Creek.

Nearest the pin on the 5th and 14th holes were awarded to Anand Lakhiani from the Indian golf Society and Ibrahim Baggash from FIGME.   

Overall Results:  IGS 123, JAGS 117, EGS 113, KEGS 110, FIGME 108, FOGS 107, BBBGS 106, LGS 105, SLAGS 101, SODS 101 and DAPS 100 points.
