India Team Continue Domination in Kohlman Nations Cup at the Emirates Golf Club

The quartet of Ashish Nanda, Shravan Khanna, Achal Ghai and Gurinder Singh representing India triumphed in the Kohlman Nations Cup with a combined score of 84 points.

 

The Kohlman Cup surpassed its usual high standard with 131 golfers competing in what has become one of the most popular events on the men’s tournament calendar.
The four-man team event splits the 4-ball in to pairs and each pair play a pair’s betterball stableford, following the round the two scores are combined to form the Nations score. Nanda, Khanna, Ghai and Singh secured a 3 stroke victory over the UAE team. Captained by Abdulla Al Karam, the UAE team carded 81 points with the support of Stathis Stathis, Nick Evangelopolous and Haris Michaelidis. Two teams signed for 79 points but it was Scotland who edged the card count back and clinched third place following excellent play from Roger Daynes, Jamie McNish, Carlos Sabugueiro and Mark Donovan.
India also picked fourth place with the aid of Inaan Budhiraja, Aman Chopra, Pavan Nihalani and Sunny Manghani.
Other prizes on the day went to Scotland for the best dressed team in the form of Drummond Welsh, Peter Jamieson, Roy Pirie and Alan Main. The ‘hit Moshe’s Boat’ competition saw nine members successfully hit the boat anchored in the lake on hole two and Rajesh Deepchandani was first out of the hat for a star prize.
Amit Dhamani, from Dhamani Jewellers, supported the evening with a raffle draw for the lady members; the lucky winner received a pearl necklace. Amit also presented the nearest the pin awards to Veneet Mohan, Hitesh Bhayani, Ishwar Jodha and Ross Hopwood. The long drive competitions were dominated by Mark Donovan and Peter Dedek who both one two apiece.

The host for the day Moshe Kohli, in addition to the excellent feedback from all 131 players, received his Captains book from the 2012-2013 season courtesy of Jacqui Barry.
