Imran Akhtar wins ERL Monthly Stableford at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club

Pakistani golf ace Imran Akhtar picked up the ERL Monthly Stableford by the smallest of margins after overcoming Sanjoy Das in a scorecard count back after both had posted 41 points for their rounds.

A fabulous round of golf saw Akhtar par an incredible 16 holes and even managed to no score the 11th after a triple bogey, a great effort and after a long stint on the academy the hard work has finally paid off.

Sanjoy Das was disappointed not to topple Akhtar in what would have been his first win individually on Sharjah soil; however he managed to pick up the prize for winning Division 1.

The Division 2 prize went to hard working Korean golfer J.J Kim, he is still improving his handicap in an superb season which has seen him cut 8 shots off his handicap index. He finished with 40 points and was one clear of Peter Gaskin who was the day’s unluckiest golfer.

The gross division also went extremely close with both Ian Plant and Hassan Yazdi both recording 32 gross stableford points, however it was Englishman Plant who prevailed over Iranian golfer Yazdi by virtue of another scorecard count back.

All four winning golfers receive pro shop vouchers to be spent at Sharjah, with Akhtar also picking up the commemorative trophy to add to his collection.
