Ian Haywood takes home the air miles at the Yas Links June Etihad open
On Friday, June 12th members and guests were ready to compete at the always enjoyed Etihad Open Stableford.
Humidity and heat was certainly evident, though that didn’t stop players to compete for bragging rights and air miles at the renowned competition. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners receive air miles in denominations of 25,000, 15,000 and 10,000 respective of their standing in both division categories based on their handicap. After the tournament entrants joined at the outside members terrace in Hickory’s restaurant to hear the results of the days competition.
The Division A Handicap Category (0-14 Hcp) saw some fantastic scores top leaderboard. We had four players tied on 39 points to decide 2nd and 3rd, but it was Will Royce who took 3rd place worth 10,000 air miles on a better back 6 score of 13 points. 2nd place went to Stuart Nimmo, who returned the best of the 39 pointers with a better back 9 of 21 points. But our victor who stood above the rest on his own with a fantastic score of 40 points was Ian Haywood.
Khaled Tlais was the top spot winner for Division B Category (15-36 Hcp). He finished his round with an incredible 39 points putting him in a solid first place standing. Lora Al Marzooqi took second place finishing with a notable 38 points while John Sommers secured a very close third place with 37 points.
We hope to see all at the next Etihad Open Stableford competition being held at Yas Links Friday, July 17th 2015 with a 730am shotgun start.
