Home Victory for Blackadder in the UAE PGA Acuma Classic
The Acuma Classic was played today in excellent conditions at the Earth Course – Jumeirah Golf Estates.
The event included invited amateur guests as part of our Patrons Cup Series who played in their own event alongside the Professional field. The winner of the Amateur section with an impressive 37 points was Ilana Meyer of Acuma Wealth Management who puts herself at the top of the Patrons Cup Series amateur leaderboard after round 1.
In the Professional event local knowledge played a part with Kurtis Clement taking home 5th place on 75 (+3) and former Jumeirah Golf Estates Professional Steven Munro taking 4th on 73 (+1). At the top of the leaderboard was the ever present Callum Nicoll who tied for 2nd with new member to the association Tom Buchanan playing in his first event and first round on the Earth Course with a fine round of 72 (L). This however was still 2 shots behind home professional David Blackadder who compiled a very impressive two under par score of 70 courtesy of two back nine birdies on the 15th and 18th to win the 2012 Acuma Classic, congratulations to David on his first UAE PGA Order of Merit victory.
The full results of today’s event are attached with the updated Order of Merit standings where Callum Nicoll has all but sealed the title with a commanding 490 point lead.
The Patrons Cup Series Order of Merits will be available after the conclusion of the second event.
Our sincere thanks go to Geoff Hunter (General Manager) and Neal Graham (Director of Golf) for their generous hospitality today at Jumeirah Golf Estates also for their assistance in running the event and attending to all the players today. Our appreciation also goes to the maintenance team for the golf course condition, the Earth Course was in excellent shape and enjoyed by all.
