High scores continue at Al Badia Golf Club in Tech Access International Pairs UAE
Antony Su and Zhendong Tan continued the run of high winning scores in the 2012-13 Tech Access International Pairs UAE Presented by Cadillac when they stormed to an impressive win at Al Badia Golf Club on Friday.
Other than occasional gusts of wind, conditions were ideal and in particular, the Al Badia members were provided with perfect greens as they competed to become the ninth team to qualify for the 2013 National Final at Yas Links in June.
As it happened, Su and Tan were untouchable as the 4 and 13 handicapper combined brilliantly to return a better-ball stableford score of 46 points. The pair opened their account with four net birdies in their first five holes and never looked back as they compiled equal nines of 23 points. The highlight of an already superb scorecard was an eagle for Su on the 18th hole. Su and Tan will enter the UAE National Final as one of the lowest-combined handicap teams and if Yas Links provides its usual test, this could be a crucial factor.
Bryan Scatterty and Mike Beggs finished in the runners-up spot thanks to their 43 points but ultimately paid the penalty for dropped shots on the short holes – 7 and 15. Claiming third place was birthday girl Jacqueline O’Connor, who played with husband, Kieran and scored 42 points, thanks mainly to a brilliant back-9 of 22 points that featured four net birdies.
At the customary Grand Draw, help during the Prizegiving, John Allen won a night away at the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi, Official Hotel partner of Tech Access International Pairs UAE Presented by Cadillac. Mike Beggs received some consolation for missing out on the tournament win when he won a pair of Crocs golf shoes by Hank Haney, along with Liz Batson and Liming Guo. David Gray, Managing Partner of DG Golf, regional distributors of Crocs Golf Shoes presented the latest shoes to hit the golf market.
Tech Access International Pairs UAE Presented by Cadillac is also supported by Rivoli Group, Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi, Mediclinic Middle East, Nike Golf, Crocs Golf, Sport 360, Worldwide Golf and UAE Golf Online. The winners from Al Badia Golf Club join the winners at Arabian Ranches Golf Club, Abu Dhabi City Golf Club, Yas Links, Emirates Golf Club ,The Address Montgomerie Dubai, Al Hamra Golf Club, Tower Links Golf Club and Al Ghazal Golf Club in the UAE National Final, to be played at Yas Links in June. The next Tech Access International Pairs UAE Presented by Cadillac Qualifier will be played at Jumeirah Golf Estates on 16th February.
