golf in DUBAi lauds ambassador Dame Laura Davies

The of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE), the Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) — and now the Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE).

The accolades keep pouring in for Laura Davies who boasts 84 worldwide wins, seven Order of Merit triumphs and is a four-time Solheim Cup winner, her no nonsense approach to the sport making her Britain’s most accomplished female golfer.

No wonder congratulatory messages are flooding in from all over the world for Davies, lauding the legendary golfer for being made a Dame in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

The adulatory storm is also a great advertisement for women’s golf.

“It really is the greatest honour I have received in my career and what makes it even more special is that it is an honour that transcends golf,” said the 50-year-old, who is also a golf in DUBAi’ ambassador.

Commented Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice-chairman and CEO of golf in DUBAi: “Laura is special and one whose popularity transcends her sport. The fact that she is still going strong despite being so many years on the tour shows she loves competing and loves mixing with the youngsters.

“We are fortunate to have such a phenomenal player as one of our ambassadors. People tend to believe that sportspersons wane with age, but she is setting new records every day and that speaks volumes for her awesome talent.

“Congratulations to Dame Laura Davies. We look forward to welcoming her to this year’s Omega Dubai Ladies Masters where she will be making her eighth appearance in a row. Indeed, a great honour for all of us at golf in DUBAi.”
