‘golf in DUBAi’ hails Abu Dhabi’s new golf initiative

'golf in DUBAI' hailed a new golf initiative launched by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, saying the ambitious drive will serve as a catalyst in realising full potential of golf tourism, not only in the Emirate, but the whole country.

"We welcome the formation of 'Golf in Abu Dhabi' that underlines the government's resolve in positioning the UAE capital as a world-class golf and lifestyle destination," said Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice chairman and CEO of 'golf in DUBAi, the promoters and organizers of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters.

"Golf represents the largest sports-related travel market in the world and such golf-centric initiatives are a good advertisement for the game and reflects on the country's vision to promoting sports as part of its growth strategy," he added.

"The UAE boasts a strong portfolio of world-class courses and has contributed to the phenomenal growth of real estate. With its favourable climate, beaches and distinct cultural history, UAE has all what it takes to attract golf tourism.

"Ours is a vibrant economy and more and more people want to identify with golf, hence the opportunities to promote the UAE on the global stage are immense. Also, we are well ahead of other Middle Eastern countries when it comes to rounds played per year, which is a testimony to the growing popularity of the game here.

"The formation of 'Golf in Abu Dhabi' will further add to the profile of the vibrant Emirate and will help showcase many of its other attractions to the world. I congratulate the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority on their new initiative which will, I am sure, contribute to the overall development of the game as well."
