Golf in Dubai call for Dubai Open volunteers at the Els Club

Organisers of the Dubai Open have called upon golfing enthusiasts to come forward and be part of the action when the Asian Tour’s final event of 2014 gets underway at The Els Club Dubai from December 18 to 21. ‘golf in DUBAi’ – the promoters and organisers of the tournament — estimates over 100 volunteers will be required to act as marshals and carry out other tournament related positions as needed.

“The role of the volunteers will be crucial in continuing to showcase Dubai as the ‘city of golf’, as we strive to make the inaugural Dubai Open the most successful tournament on the Asian Tour,” said Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice chairman and CEO of ‘golf in DUBAi.’

“With the support of the Els Club management, we are spending a great deal of time to make sure the course is in perfect condition and that we have the best players available for the event,” he said. “The assistance of the volunteers is vital to the success of an event, and we are calling on the UAE golfing community as a whole to play their part in ensuring we put our best foot forward.”

The volunteers will be deployed in a variety of key positions under the expert guidance of highly qualified Chief Marshal, Boyd Edmondson. Boyd brings extensive experience in many areas of tournament operations garnered over many years of involvement with the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, Omega Dubai Ladies Masters and the DP World Tour Championship.

All golf fans wishing to be part of Dubai’s newest golf event may visit the tournament websites — www.dubaiopen.ae or golfindubai.org  –- for online registration. Preference will be given to volunteers who can commit to two or more days.

All necessary training and golf course familiarisation will be provided to newcomers to ensure they are comfortable in all situations.
