Golf fans ready for the greatest day out on Earth at the DP World Tour Championship Dubai

While the top 60 players on The European Tour do battle in the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, thousands of golf fans are in for four days of fun and entertainment in the US$8 million tournament’s Championship Village.

To be staged on the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates from Thursday 14 to Sunday 17 November, the final Race to Dubai event will be a sporting and social spectacular with Jumeirah Golf Estates the centre of the global golfing spotlight.

While big guns such as Henrik Stenson, Graeme McDowell, Justin Rose and Ian Poulter will be targeting The Race to Dubai crown and the title of European Number One, 2012 champion Rory McIlroy will be looking to defend the DP World Tour Championship trophy he won in such sensational style just 12 months ago.

As well as world-class golf, spectators – who will once again take advantage of free season tickets for the event – can enjoy a menu of golfing tips, trick shots, delicious food and drink and live music.

While trick shot specialist Jeremy Dale will bring his globally renowned golf show to the Earth course with two shows a day from Thursday to Saturday and a final demonstration on the last day, there will also be complimentary golf lessons for fans of all ages, courtesy of the EGF and the R&A, as well as fun golf for children through Grassroots Golf.

Situated adjacent to the driving range and Clubhouse, the Championship Village will also have plenty to offer in terms of food and drink, while other outlets on the course – including the popular Left Bank located alongside the par three 17th hole – will again keep golf fans refreshed.
In addition to several chill-out zones and a giant TV screen with live screening in the Village, fans can also follow the last 72 holes of the 2013 Race to Dubai by tuning in to the tournament’s Official Radio Partner Dubai Eye 103.8 who will be broadcasting live from the event with constant updates and interviews throughout the four days.

And for fans not quite ready to head for home once the last putt of the day has been holed, popular Dubai bands The Maplejacks and Suburban Voodoo will play live each night in the Championship Village until 7pm.

For spectators looking to head back into town, there will be a plentiful supply of taxis as well as complimentary shuttle buses running from 14.00-20.00 each day of the tournament. Departing from the front of the Public Car Park (2A), buses will go to popular Dubai destinations such as Bidi Bondi (The Palm), Barasti, Dubai Marina Yacht Club, Wafi, Arabian Ranches, Motor City and to the Ibn Battuta Metro.

“Last year we were happy to see a record 58,000 spectators visiting the DP World Tour Championship,” said European Tour International Director, Dubai Office Nick Tarratt. “With the best players on The European Tour competing for the tournament title and The Race to Dubai crown still in the balance, the tournament is one of the most eagerly anticipated events on the UAE calendar.

“Add in free entrance for the fifth year in succession plus a whole host of entertainment options off the course and the DP World Tour Championship looks set to be a fitting finale to The Race to Dubai.”
