Glitz and glamorous Ladies day lights up Abu Dhabi

Off course competition hots up as best dressed ladies compete for jet set prize

Whether spotting the latest fashion trends, perfecting your straight drive or watching golf’s next generation of superstars realise their dreams, there was something for everyone in the vibrant Championship Village on Ladies Day at the 2019 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA.

The action took a stylish turn as the best-dressed ladies in the Emirate strutted their stuff showing off their dazzling denims and stunning silks in a bid to win a pair of Etihad flights to a destination of their choice with the runners up getting a weekend stay for two at the Shangri-La Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Nicky Ramsbottom, 29, commented: “I come to Ladies Day every year and there are some beautiful outfits and great competition. It adds a lot of glamour to what is one of the best events in the Abu Dhabi sporting calendar.”

In the lively hub of the Championship Village, Sir Alastair Cook and Nasser Hussain were once again back in the nets to pass on their considerable expertise to a new generation of budding cricketers. The Trickshot Boys were up to their jaw dropping best, performing stunts that inspired and entertained the animated crowd in equal measure.

Also showing off their talent were the major winners of tomorrow, The HSBC Future Falcons, who took on the Garden Course as they went head-to-head with a range of European Tour Pro’s in the HSBC Future Falcons Pro Am event.

Ellie Brecken, 12, said about the HSBC Future Falcons: “When I came to Abu Dhabi my handicap was 36 and now it’s down to 12, so I’m really happy. It’s an amazing experience to play with professionals and I certainly learnt a lot from them. I have had a great day especially with my dad caddying!”

European Tour’s Marcus Kinhult, who relished the chance to pass on some advice to the younger generation, said: “I think I need the tips from them as I missed the cut this week! The course and facilities here are great and I’m sure some of the HSBC Future Falcons will be challenging us on Tour soon.”

A sea of colours was on show today but the only one that matters tomorrow is red. Thanks to tournament partner HSBC, anyone who wears red tomorrow will get in free. Don’t miss out!
